Abstract

The 5S methodology—Sort, Set in Order, Shine, Standardize, and Sustain—is a systematic approach for workplace organization and standardization. This study evaluates the role of the 5S methodology in enhancing laboratory efficiency in bioprocess research. A structured implementation of 5S principles in a bioprocess research lab demonstrated significant improvements in efficiency, safety, and resource utilization. The study highlights specific interventions such as better organization of reagents and equipment, enhanced documentation practices, and waste reduction. Results indicate improved task completion times, reduced errors, and higher employee satisfaction, underscoring the potential of 5S to optimize bioprocess research outcomes.
