The demand for renewable and sustainable sources of energy has intensified in recent years, driving the need for alternative biofuels such as biodiesel. Algal biomass, particularly the lipids it contains, is considered one of the most promising feedstocks for biofuel production. This study focuses on the development and optimization of scalable bioreactor designs for high-yield algal lipid extraction. A comprehensive analysis of various bioreactor types, including flat-panel, photobioreactor, and airlift bioreactors, is conducted to assess their efficiency in algal cultivation and lipid extraction. The results indicate that the airlift bioreactor provides the best conditions for maximizing algal lipid production due to its superior gas exchange rates and mixing capabilities. Statistical analysis reveals significant improvements in lipid yield when optimizing culture parameters such as light intensity, temperature, and nutrient concentration. The findings of this study provide valuable insights into scaling up algal lipid extraction processes, contributing to the commercial viability of algal biofuels.
