Abstract

The increasing demand for sustainable and efficient production of biochemicals and biofuels has necessitated advanced process modeling tools. ASPEN and HYSYS have emerged as pivotal simulation platforms in bioprocess engineering due to their ability to model complex biological and chemical interactions. This study explores recent advancements in using ASPEN/HYSYS for bioprocess engineering, focusing on microbial fermentation, enzymatic reactions, and downstream purification. The integration of artificial intelligence (AI) and machine learning (ML) techniques, coupled with advancements in kinetic modeling and thermodynamic packages, is highlighted. The outcomes indicate enhanced efficiency in process design, optimization, and cost reduction, paving the way for future sustainable bioprocessing technologies.
