Abstract

 The growing demand for renewable energy sources has led to significant advancements in algal biofuel production, as algae offer a promising alternative to traditional fossil fuels. Among the various steps involved in algal biofuel production, efficient lipid recovery is one of the most critical challenges. Lipids extracted from algae are used in the production of biodiesel, a renewable and environmentally friendly fuel. This manuscript explores the role of enzymatic techniques in enhancing the efficiency of lipid extraction processes from algae. Enzymatic hydrolysis has emerged as a sustainable and eco-friendly alternative to traditional solvent-based extraction methods, offering advantages such as higher yield, lower environmental impact, and reduced energy consumption. The manuscript reviews the application of various enzymes, including lipases, cellulases, and proteases, in lipid recovery from algal biomass. It also presents an overview of the methodologies used, the results of various studies, and potential improvements in the process. This paper concludes with a discussion of the challenges, future prospects, and the potential integration of enzymatic techniques into largescale algal biofuel production systems.
